ORWH envisions a world where women receive evidence-based disease prevention and treatment tailored to their own unique needs, circumstances, and goals; women are appropriately represented in clinical research populations; sex is considered at every stage of biomedical research and health care delivery; and all women in scientific career fields are empowered to reach their full potential.

Conferences and Meetings Interest Areas:

The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) supports meetings that advance interdisciplinary research to improve women’s health across the lifespan, strengthen rigor through integration of sex as a biological variable (SABV), address disparities in women’s health outcomes, accelerate prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies to improve women’s health, promote development of Common Data Elements, and foster workforce development and cross-IC collaboration.

The Office of Autoimmune Disease Research in the Office of Research on Women’s Health (OADR-ORWH) is interested in applications seeking funding for the support of scientific conferences and workshops that will bring together subject matter experts in autoimmune disease research with the goal of developing and refining Common Data Elements (CDEs) for autoimmune disease research. The use of CDEs supports the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy by facilitating harmonization and interoperability of data from different studies.

Research Education Interest Areas:

The Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) co-funds research education awards in partnership with the administering Institute or Center (IC). ORWH supports programs that advance women’s health research by building a skilled, cross-disciplinary workforce at all career and educational stages.  

Interest areas include: 

  • Interdisciplinary training in women’s health research
