LRP Contract

Description

The NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Contract is the binding agreement signed between an LRP applicant and the NIH Director (or designee) upon acceptance into one of the NIH’s Loan Repayment Programs.

It formalizes the participant’s service and research obligations in exchange for NIH’s repayment of up to $50,000 annually in qualified educational debt, in accordance with the requirements set out in 42 CFR Part 68 – National Institutes of Health (NIH) Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs).

NIH uses the LRP contract together with program-specific guidance for the Extramural LRP and the Intramural LRP.

How to Access

  • Applications, including the contract, must be submitted by the published deadline.
  • If an award is made, the contract must be signed by the NIH Director (or designee) for it to be considered binding.
  • Downloaded, printed, or otherwise offline copies of the LRP contract will not be accepted.

Instructions

The LRP Contract is available under the Certifications tab in the LRP application through ASSIST.  Read the contract in its entirety and check the box next to the statement to signify your consent.  You will enter your name as an electronic signature on the contract.
