What Should I Know About the Current and Pending (Other) Support (CPOS) Common Form?
The CPOS Common Form must be used for all NIH grant applications, Just in Time (JIT), Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR), and Prior Approval submissions to NIH with due dates on or after January 25, 2026 (see NIH guide notices NOT-OD-26-018 and NOT-OD-26-033).
This Common Form helps the individual to clearly disclose current and pending support for:
- All active projects or projects with ongoing obligations.
- Any proposal that is being considered for funding by a potential funding organization.
- All current and pending in-kind contributions with an estimated dollar value of $5,000 or more and that require a commitment of the individual’s time.
CPOS information allows NIH to assess the capacity or any conflicts of commitment that may impact an individual’s ability to carry out the research effort as proposed. The information also helps assess any potential scientific and budgetary overlap/duplication. The form is required for:
- JIT submissions for all senior/key personnel identified on the application.
- New senior/key personnel in the RPPR.
- Reporting of changes in CPOS in the RPPR.
- Others as indicated in the Notice of Funding Opportunity, Application Guide Instructions, or RPPR Instructions.
Please note: CPOS is not required at the time of application submission for NIH unless specified in the Notice of Funding Opportunity or for specific scenarios detailed in the Application Guide Instructions (e.g., mentors on Career Development applications).
Applicants should also ensure their ORCID iD is linked to both their eRA Commons account and SciENcv account to ensure successful completion of the forms in SciENcv.
