National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDDN), has a requirement for the continuation of the Liver Tissue Procurement and Distribution System (LTPADS) as a network of three to six geographically distributed Tissue Collection Centers. This project is designed to procure, preserve and deliver liver tissue and cells from a variety of end-stage liver diseases to researchers. These tissue and cells would otherwise be discarded or be obtainable to most researchers who are not a part of a liver transplant center. The LTPADS is also designed to make normal liver tissue and cells available for research when such livers are found to be unsuitable for liver transplantation. The Request for Proposals, RFP No. NIH-NIDDK-98-1, will be issued on or about November 21, 1997 with a closing date of on or about January 21, 1998. Requests for the RFP must be in writing, addressed to the Contracting Officer cited above, and must cite the referenced RFP number. All responsible sources may submit a proposal that will be considered by the agency. The Government is not committed to award a contract pursuant to this announcement.
