The NIH realizes that a number of institutions are closed and evacuation orders have been issued because of the progress of Hurricane Ernesto.  The usual NIH practice for such extraordinary circumstances will apply.  Paper and electronic applications that are submitted late because of Hurricane Ernesto should include a cover letter noting the reasons for the delay.  It is not necessary to get permission in advance for hurricane-related delays in grant application submissions. It is expected that the delay will generally not exceed the time period that an institution is closed/evacuation order imposed.
