The purpose of this notice is to announce a request for proposal
(RFP NIH-ES-04-02) (http://www.niehs.nih.gov/dert/rcb/rfp.htm ). The
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is
soliciting proposals for resequencing of genome mouse strains. The
overall objective of this requirement is to identify the DNA sequence of
the nuclear genomes of 15 commonly used strains of inbred laboratory
mice and which sequence determines the genetic basis of trait
differences between the different inbred mouse strains. In so doing,
the contractor shall develop a publicly available, easily accessible,
annotated database. Specifically, the contractor shall determine the
identify of each base in each position along each mouse chromosome and
develop and maintain an annotated record of the sequence data obtained
for each of 15 different inbred mouse strains. The contract is expected
to cover a three-year performance period with two one-year options. The
contract will be a cost reimbursement, level of effort type contract.
It is anticipated that approximately 13,520 labor hours will be required
each contract year. The anticipated release date of the request for
