The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) plans to issue a Request for Applications (RFA) in the fall of 2007 for the purposes of advancing and accelerating clinical and translational research in chronic hepatitis B.  This program will support exceptional investigators with demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of chronic hepatitis B who put forward original proposals that will address research challenges as delineated in the recently published Management of Hepatitis B: summary of a clinical research workshop (Hepatology. 2007 Apr;45(4):1056-75) as well at in the Trans-NIH Action Plan for Liver Disease Research (http://www2.niddk.nih.gov/AboutNIDDK/ResearchAndPlanning/Liver_Disease/Action_Plan_For_Liver_Disease_Intro.htm).
