RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) supports
and encourages research aimed at discovering the etiology and pathogenesis of
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs), and developing new tissue engineering
strategies for the repair and regeneration of TMJ structures. As part of

objectives: A) designing and implementing a research registry of clinical
information and biological specimens on TMD patients receiving implants, and
B) designing and implementing a research registry and repository on TMJ
retrieved implants. It is expected that proposals with a wide variety of
technical and scientific approaches will be submitted.
