Receipt Date for Letters of Interest: July 12, 2002

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is interested
in expediting the completion of development of three vaccines for biodefense:
(1) Rift Valley Fever vaccine, (2) Plague vaccine, and, (3) Smallpox vaccine for
persons at high-risk of complications from currently available vaccines (e.g.,
the immune deficient).

NIAID is interested in receiving letters of interest regarding these vaccines
from organizations that have candidate vaccines under clinical development.
Interested organizations should submit a letter of interest that contains a
detailed description of the product and summary results of pre-clinical and
early clinical testing. The letter of interest along with any supporting
documentation shall not exceed 10 pages. Letters of interest will be kept
confidential and will help in determining the need for an RFP to support further
development, testing, and licensure of these products, and in assembling a
potential source list for distribution if an RFP is issued.
